My Journey Away from Arthritis
Elizabeth LaDouceur | MAY 28, 2023
These are my enthusiastic notes from when I was going to battle with the arthritis.
Well, my feet are as flexible as a twelve year old, except I think that I have to work on the ankle joint at some point, because there is a bit of stuff in there but nothing serious. The Petronius longus muscle was very hard on the left side especially, but I worked it out quite well. After my work my lower leg felt weak and numb. My gait was affected; I dragged that leg bit. I lost flexion in the ankle so considering all of this, I did quite a number on myself. It is recovering, and I have been very pleased with the whole process.
I also worked out, well it seems like, all the arthritis in my knees, but once I go to the stage where I am doing my yoga more dynamically we shall see. My IT band in the thigh is doing great. I was able to get a tennis ball to sink into it and didn't have the need to flinch. On that note, if you were to have seen me working on these areas you would think that I was a masochist. I clinch my teeth, my eyes might pop open in shock, I cry out in pain, I do Ujjayi breath, AUM and LaMaze breathing like in child birth. It works.
As I mentioned, all the sitting, bending forward stretches are to my satisfaction right now so I have gone on to the arms. My friend has been doing my upper arms. He asked me at one point if he was pressing too hard when he showed me the red dent in his thumb. I just turned my head toward him with my eyes barely open and said, "Hurt me."
I dug into my lower arms and even a bit of my hands. I have alot of work to do, but I have made a great start. I even did some work on my neck. Just a wee bit, and so the numbness in my hands is history, but the muscles still need a great digging.
I also got the hand towel out and am using it to increase mobility in my arms. My hip feels like the arthritic spikes in the sacrum have been ground down and good mobility has returned. Once I get the arms done I will focus mostly on backward stretches till my satisfaction has been satiated.
What are you doing for your body?
